A few notes about the race:

-Gobble Hobble 5K started three years ago by Janet Plocharsky and Karen Jacobs to collect food for the food banks in Grant County.

-This year Janet asked the Running Club at Humbolt to organize the race. The Running Club took this on as a community service project and asked New Hope of Grant County to partner with them.

-2014 Gobble Hobble results:

                First Place Male: Patrick Barry Female: Colleen Malley

                Youth 12 & under: 1st: Eithen Hatfield 2nd Zerihun Janssen

                Total Runners: 36

                Total Dogs: 14

-The most important numbers:

                $151 donated to New Hope of Grant County to help with low cost spay and neuter.

                18 pounds of dog food and 7 pounds of cat food to aid animals in foster care.

                $85 donated to Grant County Food Bank

                75 pounds of food donated. Split between the following food banks: Monument, Prairie City, Methodist Church in John Day, and Grant County Food Bank.

NEW ROUTE!!

The race has been rerouted.

A map will be available the morning of the race. Below is a description of the race course:



5k Run/Walk


1. Begin north of grade school at the corner of Brent Ln.

2. Head south to Nugget Ln.

3. Turn right onto Nugget Ln.

4. Turn right onto Quail Ln.

5. Turn left onto Elk View Dr.

6. Turn left back down Nugget Ln.

7. Turn right onto N Humbolt St.

8. Continue onto S Humbolt St.

9. Turn left onto Izee St.

10. Turn left onto 395.

11. Turn left onto Inland Dr.

12. Turn left onto N Humbolt St.

13. Head past school ending at start of playground field.

Warm fleece scarfs will be available for purchase this year with Gobble Hobble 5K embroidered on them.
$10 each
Profit from the scarves will be donated to the food banks.

Partnership with Grant County Committee of New Hope

The Gobble Hobble will be collecting food for humans, dogs and cats!

Entry Fee: Three ways to pay –you decide which charity to donate to:

1)     5 items of food that can be donated to the food banks in Grant County.

2)     Dog or Cat food that will be donated to Grant County New Hope who will assist local animals in foster care.

3)     Cash donation to assist with low-cost spay and neuter program known as Ally’s Fund.
      Checks can be made to Grant County New Hope.

Gobble Hobble 2014

3rd Annual Gobble Hobble

Date: Saturday, November 22nd.
Location: Humbolt Elementary School, Canyon City OR
Start time: 9:00 am
Registration:  Day of race entries only. Registrations opens at 8:15 am
Entry Fee: 5 items of human food or dog/cat food that can be donated to the food banks in Grant County.

Dogs and their owners are encouraged to hobble along the 5K course route together.

Route will be the same as 2013. *Note: Start and Finish will be at Humbolt Elementary School.
